💡 How This is Calculated (Methodology & Approximations)

This tool provides a macro-level real estate approximation to help guide your relocation planning.

The Data Source: Our backend utilizes standardized, state-level real estate benchmarks. We aggregate median home values, median rent prices, and median price-per-square-foot data from national housing indexes (such as Zillow, Redfin, or the US Census), updated quarterly.

The Math: We take your current housing footprint (your home value or monthly rent, and square footage) and apply the mathematical ratio difference between your origin and target states. For example, if the median price-per-square-foot is half as expensive in your destination state, the tool calculates that your current budget will buy you twice as much space there.

Real-World Variance: Real estate is inherently hyper-local. A state's overall median data does not account for specific neighborhood premiums, school district quality, property condition, or luxury finishes. Treat these outputs as a reliable baseline projection for your state-to-state housing purchasing power, not an exact appraisal for a specific property.
